Lifeforce Energy – An Artful Yoga Class
Sneak Peek: Lifeforce Energy: an Artful Yoga Class in the Mills Gallery
Join us on May 4th for a unique opportunity to simultaneously experience mind, body, music and art. Taking place at the Boston Center for the Arts’ Mills Gallery at 10 am, this multi-disciplinary yoga class allows participants to become immersed in the BCA’s current exhibition, Jordan Eagles: Blood Dust. New-York based artist Eagles uses an unconventional medium, animal blood, to create large installations that explore spiritual connections between life and death. A live cellist will accompany the class, furthering the immersive atmosphere.
After originally working with red paint back in art school, Eagles felt the final product was not coming to life. He started using animal blood and found his canvases beginning depicting a pulsating energy that he wanted to capture. Eagles confronts viewers with a natural, yet uncomfortable substance to allude to ideas of mortality and regeneration.
The theme of this Vinyassa flow class, taught by owner of Coolidge Corner Yoga Tatyana Souza, will be movement, echoing the blood flow depicted in the artwork. The practice will also include backbends and heart openers to connect your body with the themes of the artwork. Experience Eagles’ energy-filled artwork by signing up for this one-of-a-kind class today!
