Few things have the power to bind us together across time and culture like music. These ArtWeek 2020 events represent a universal language that is sure to get your toes tapping!

Andover Choral Society 90th Anniversary Concert and Lecture at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium- Hear from composer Demetrius Spaneas at the premiere performance of his new work, “Becoming,” as well as other pieces by Merrimack Valley composers – Andover
Chestnut Street Revue at the First Universalist Society- Enjoy a musical concert while learning the words to “What A Wonderful World” in American Sign Language—then practice your newfound language skills and sign along with the musicians! – Franklin
“Dramatic Return” Concert and Reception at the Harvard-Epworth Church- Thrill to epic tales of reunification in an all-French program with Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre’s cantata “Le Passage sure la Mer Rouge” and Clerambault’s cantata “Leandre et Hero.” Enjoy a reception with the Musicians of the Old Post Road (and their period instruments) up close following the performance – Cambridge

Emmanuel Music: Open Cantata Rehearsal BWV 194 at Emmanuel Music– An insider look at how Artistic Director Ryan Turner conducts a rehearsal for a Bach Cantata, followed by a talkback – Boston
Jazz Jam at Marion Art Center- Learn the inner workings of an improv jazz session, and even bring your own instrument to jam with the band – Marion
Late Night at Emmanuel: Weill and Britten Cabaret at Emmanuel Music- Come for a special meet & greet with the performers of this late-night program curated by tenor Charles Blandy and the Arneis Quartet – Boston
Latin Percussion at Marion Art Center- Sample scintillating salsa as Latin percussionists Danny Schwartz and Jesus Andujar invite all ages and experience levels to a hands-on dive into the wonderful world of congas, timbales, guiros, cabasas, djembes, claves, bongos and shakers – Marion
Marion Music Hall Piano Dedication at the Marion Art Center- Help to dedicate the newly restored 1969 Steinway Model L Grand Piano with rebuilder Rich Fell as he shows you the instrument’s inner parts and how they work, along with an explanation of the restoration process – Marion
Musica Franklin Fun Fest at Sheffield Elementary School- Enjoy this fun, family-friendly event for the whole community, complete with performances, puppet shows, a make-your-own instrument workshop, family dance, and more! – Turners Falls
PorchFest Plymouth 2020 in the Plymouth Bay Cultural District- A walkable event featuring 25 acts, this unique music festival links musicians and vocalists of all genres and ages with host homeowners, businesses and cultural venues – Plymouth
Southcoast Jazz Orchestra at Marion Art Center/Gilda’s Stone Rooster- Get an inside look at how Big Band music is created and performed at the Marion Art Center—then head over to Gilda’s for a night of music, drinks, and dance! – Marion
The Great Northeast Jug Band Festival at The Arlington Center for the Arts- Highlighting musical traditions from the 20s and 30s to today, this event features free workshops and activities for the public and a ticketed performance by five of the region’s best Jug Bands – Arlington
West Concord Acts Out at the Concord Conservatory of Music and the Kay DeFord Center for the Performing Arts- Enjoy a bluegrass band scramble by day and participate in a talent show by night at this event put on by the West Concord Junction Cultural District Committee – Concord
Windborne in Concert at Harwich Cultural Center- The four-member harmony vocal ensemble, Windborne, performs new and old music from US and International traditions. Become part of the fun as these accomplished musicians teach the audience a song! – Harwich
WOMR-FM Open House at the Schoolhouse Center for the Arts- WOMR is celebrating their 38th year on the air! Visit the upgraded studios for a tour or demonstration of the broadcasting equipment and the art of recording – Provincetown
Woods Hole Traditional Music Stroll at ArtsFalmouth, Inc- Hear a variety of music ensembles perform as you stroll along, complete with artist demonstrations and even a class on taping live performances by Falmouth Community Television! – Falmouth
