1,000 Cranes For Franklin

April 28 at 10:30 am11:15 am

Franklin Public Library – please use the School Street entrance, 118 Main Street Franklin, MA 02038
Free

During the entire week of ArtWeek, the Franklin Public Library will be hosting a station where patrons can learn to make paper cranes. As a community, we will attempt to fold 1,000 paper cranes, which we will display in the library! Participants will also write their personal wishes for the Franklin community on the cranes they have created, keeping with the belief within Japanese culture and folklore that folding 1,000 cranes will result in the granting of a wish! We will kick off this event with a crane storytime on Saturday April 28th at 10:30AM and will work closely throughout the week with student volunteers to help teach patrons how to fold their cranes! The cranes will then be attached to string and hung by volunteers throughout the week, creating a crowd-sourced public art installation for the community to enjoy for the rest of the month!
