October 7, 2016 at 1:30 pm–3:00 pm
Special for ArtWeek, join Professor Jose Buscaglia and musician Henry Cole in a master class on the nature of Afro-Caribbean music and Cole’s specific areas of expertise which include his work in percussion and his knowledge of the historical and contemporary evolution of the genre. The workshop will take place at Northeastern Crossing at Northeastern University on October 7th.
Later that same day, IBA is pleased to present Henry Cole and Villa Locura in concert at the Villa Victoria Center for the Arts at 7:00 p.m. Henry Cole is an acclaimed Puerto Rican drummer who has worked at the forefront of jazz innovation and cross-cultural rhythm. He has worked with the Grammy nominated Miguel Zenon Quartet, Grammy winner David Sanchez, the Alfredo Rodriguez Trio, and many others. Villa Locura will showcase Cole’s musical talents, along with those of other musicians. Together they form a collective that is influenced by African, indigenous, and European forms, as well as jazz and hip hop. Join us for a night of Afro-Caribbean music, the likes of which you won’t find anywhere else in the city!
