Autumn’s Grace, Music’s Aid
September 27, 2015 at 3:00 pm–4:00 pm
Eudaimonia (Julia McKenzie & Vivian Montgomery, directors) is a vibrant historical orchestra whose musical work lifts up humanitarian work going on around us. Partnering with Shelter Music Boston, the concert program of “Autumn’s Grace” captures the season’s complexities through baroque music blended with bold elements of the present day. The lustrous voices of soprano Pamela Murray and mezzo soprano Carrie Cheron are joined by some of Boston’s best period instrumentalists. Featured are Vivaldi’s “Autumn” concerto (guest violinist Julie Leven), the world premiere of John Howell Morrison’s “September” (poetry by Jennifer Michael Hecht), and a presentation on SMB by its director Julie Leven, with readings from the words of women struggling with homelessness. Eudaimonia seeks to benefit those in profound need in our immediate environs, with each concert presented in partnership with a Boston-based social initiative. Pay What You Decide…this is music of the past serving needs of the present.
