Blue Hill History Canoe Tour
April 28 at 9:00 am–4:00 pm
Join David Hodgden, Founder and President of Blue Hill Adventure & Quarry Museum, for a special canoe tour of the beautiful Neponset River. Paddle along the historic Gulliver’s Creek on the Neponset, the site of the first railway in America, and learn about the granite that was gathered from there over 200 years ago and used to build the Bunker Hill Monument. David will talk about the design and build of the monument, the special granite, and the links to tribes of the region. Participants can bring their own canoe/kayak, or to rent contact Blue Hill’s 24-hour voicemail service at 781-326-0079. Special Neponset Clean Up project (optional) – trash pick-up program; for every bag collected, get a beverage coupon from Starbucks.
*Blue Hill Adventure & Quarry Museum, now in its 15th year, offers hikes and tours of the Blue Hills area and historic Granite Quarry’s . Its highly praised Canoe Program on the scenic Neponset River by 2013 CNN Hero of the Year Chad Pregcacke & published in AAA (North East) Magazine has an optional Neponset Clean Up project which was a nominee of 2014 New England EPA Environmental Merit Award.
