Celebrate Hispanic Heritage: Hojalata Workshops
October 9, 2016 at 11:00 am–1:45 pm
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, make creations known in Mexico as hojalata, inspired by tin objects from Boston Children’s Museum collection. Tin work in Mexico goes back to the 16th Century. Artists use natural, oxidized and brightly laquered paints to create ornaments, nichos, mirrors, lanterns and other decorative pieces. Great for ages 6+.
The Museum will celebrate Hispanic culture Friday October 7th through Monday October 10th with live music, dance, arts, and stories in Spanish and English. During the entire month of October in the Art Studio we will make art inspired by local contemporary Boston Hispanic Artists: Carlos Hernández Chávez, Vela Oma, Raúl Gonzalez III and Silvia López Chavez.
Workshops will start at 11:00AM, 12:00PM, and 1:00PM, lasting 45 minutes each. For a complete listing of Admission Prices and Museum Operating Hours, please visit http://www.bostonchildrensmuseum.org/visit. Workshops are free with the cost of admission.
