Slavyanka invites the public to come at 1pm to watch and hear Slavyanka Artistic Director Irina Shachneva conduct an open rehearsal prior to the concluding concert of its Boston tour. Yale Russian Chorus Alumnus and Slavyanka co-founder and Assistant Director Paul Andrews will also give a brief talk about Russian music preceding the concert.

San Francisco’s Slavyanka Chorus performs choral music from Russia, Eastern Europe and the Balkans — liturgical and secular; folk and composed, ancient and modern.

Singers and soloists from Boston and the Yale Russian Chorus Alumni join Slavyanka’s ultra-low basses, soaring tenors, angelic sopranos, and lyrical altos, under the direction of gifted Russian-born and trained artistic director Irina Shachneva.

A choral conductor for 30 years, Shachneva led choirs and two Russian Music Festivals in Boston from 1994 to 2012, when she became Artistic Director for Slavyanka in San Francisco.

Slavyanka is an internationally recognized a cappella chorus specializing in music from Russia and Eastern Europe. Over 35 years it has performed hundreds of concerts for American audiences, toured Russia and Eastern Europe four times, and received high praise for its musicianship from both American and Russian critics.
