Curator’s Tour:The Mystery of Worcester’s Leonardo

May 2, 2018 at 11:00 am12:00 pm

Worcester Art Museum 55 Salisbury Street Worcester, MA 01605

This exhibition will bring together two early Italian panel paintings for the first time since they were separated from their original altarpiece: the Annunciation at the Musée du Louvre and WAM’s Miracle of San Donato. The tour and talk offered during ArtWeek is presented by Rita Albertson, chief conservator of the Worcester Art Museum and the exhibition’s curator, who researched the Worcester picture with a team of experts, including scientists and curtators from around the globe. Albertson will cover technical analyses that were key to untangling the painting styles of a young Leonardo. Using information dervived from technical research to inform judgements of connoisseurship, the exhibition will demonstrate the complexity of attribution decisions. This event is free with Museum addmission.
