Echelman Sculpture Installation
May 3, 2015 at 10:00 am–10:30 am
Join the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy as they install the latest piece of contemporary, temporary public art in Boston. For ArtWeek, join Charlie McCabe, Director of Public Programs for a brief talk and tour on Sunday, May 3rd at 10am explaining the process as the monumental Greenway Echelman Sculpture is installed May 3-4 in the Greenway Fort Point Channel Parks located on Atlantic Ave between Pearl and Oliver streets. The installation of the sculpture, an aerial piece approximately 250 feet long by 125 feet wide will take up to 14 hours and will be attached to four points on three buildings: International Place, 125 High St and the InterContinental Hotel by multiple cranes. Temporary lane and street closures will be required during the installation and the Conservancy will set up public viewing areas on Oliver and/or Pearl streets. Once installed, the Greenway Echelman Sculpture will hang from a height of approximately 50 feet up to 250 feet above the Greenway and will be lit at night. The sculpture will stay until early October.
Meet Charlie at the Greenway pop-up tent in the park at the corner of Atlantic Ave and Pearl St, across from Nebo. He will be wearing a Greenway shirt and jacket.
