HipStory Films & NU Crossing Present: Vitiligo

May 2, 2017 at 5:00 pm7:00 pm

Northeastern Crossing 1175 Tremont Street Boston, MA 02115 United States

Special for ArtWeek, filmmaker Cliff Notez will give a talk prior to the screening of “Vitiligo.” Help us debut this important film expanding on trauma, related to racism and how it can affect the mental health of people of color. This is the first public screening of the “Vitiligo” short film.

Our hope is that we can engage in trauma-informed conversations about, not only racism, but its many counterparts. Come enjoy the work of up-and-coming black filmmakers, Hakim Hill & Cliff Notez, and help us push these discussions to a place that is often forgotten.

About “Vitiligo”: The film Vitiligo is an psychological/thriller loosely interpreting the horrific and sometimes inexplicably beautiful things that happen to the mental health of the black American male. This film wants to look at the potential psychological state of these people after sustaining trauma related to racism and its counterparts. After the initial inspirations from Paul Pfeiffer, Claudia Rainkine, and Francis Bacon, I’ve used film, music, sound design and writing to create an exploration, which will hopefully accompanied by exercises & activities encourages dialogue about, not only racism, but how it can affect people mentally and emotionally.
