Imagining the Supermarket

May 1, 2016 at 1:00 pm3:00 pm

Boston Center for the Arts 539 Tremont Street Boston , MA 02116 United States
Free

What if there were a real life store where you could buy a superpower, but the only way you could activate it was by believing? What superpower would you choose, and how would you use it? What would such a place look like, and how would it fit into your neighborhood?

In this afternoon workshop we invite you to talk with Boston Center for the Arts’ artist resident Elisa H. Hamilton as she develops her project “Supermarket,” posing playful yet vital questions using the familiar conventions of the archetypal superhero. Activate your inner hero as you interact with Elisa’s superpower objects created during her residency at the BCA. Share stories about acts of greatness and courage that you’ve witnessed, and engage in a dialogue about how we can wield our forces to empower our communities. Afterwards, be sure to share your experience by Tweeting us @Supermarket_BCA!
