Letters to Medford: A Play About the Future According to the Past
October 1, 2016 at 4:00 pm–6:00 pm
Two Roads Performance Projects presents: Letters to Medford is an original play inspired by a “Letter to Future Medford 2055” that historian, Charles Brooks, wrote in his History of Medford in 1855. In his letter, he described his vision for the transformation Medford would undergo over the course of 200 years. History and the present collide in this production when the ghosts of Charles Brooks, Lydia Maria Child, and Lucy Osgood confront the archivist who wants to protect their history and meet Medford teens who remain anxious about what the future holds for them.
On Saturday, October 1, there will be a discussion with the writer and director after the 4:00PM performance. Learn about the inspiration for the play and how the writer and director engaged a small local play to ask big questions about the relationship between history and the future. Additional performances include September 29 – October 1 and October 6 – 8 at 8:00PM, as well as October 8 at 4:00PM.
