Make Public Art for Civil Engagement!

May 4, 2017 at 6:00 pm8:00 pm

Boston Society of Architects 290 Congress Street suite 200 Boston, MA 02210 United States
Free

How can “civic engagement” become “civil engagement” in the service of art in public places?

What sorts of possible — even necessary — creative engagements -– and conditions — generate the openings that move people together? What kinds of public art interventions will ease communication among people — whether on the same or on a different page?

Join this energizing workshop where we will team up to design some solutions in real time, with Susan Israel, President and Founder, Climate Creatives & Energy Necklace Project, and Ron Mallis, Executive Director of BostonAPP/Lab, at Boston Society of Architects. Wine and snacks will be provided.

Climate Creatives and Boston APP/Lab are teaming up for the first time to bring this hands-on workshop to the public. This is the debut workshop for us on this topic, as well as the first time we will cross-pollinate our methods! Climate Creatives and BostonApp/Lab each have been supporting the making of public art, and strategizing how to advance art in public places, in their own ways. Post-election, we are directing our usual work to address this urgent topic in this workshop. Join us at this unique event!
