No Short Climb: A Documentary Film

May 5, 2016 at 6:30 pm8:00 pm

Hyde Park Library 35 Harvard Avenue Hyde Park, MA 2136 United States

Artists-at-Large presents ‘No Short Climb: Race Workers and America’s Defense Technology’, a documentary film by Robert Johnson, Jr. Just before WWII, African-Americans were unable to find jobs because of their race. As the country geared up for war, the government began recruiting Blacks for military and civilian service jobs. No Short Climb presents the previously unknown story. Special for ArtWeek, join us for a film that explores a bit of history that many don’t know and discuss the film and film making with the film-maker, Robert Johnson Jr., in his hometown of Hyde Park right after the show. An all ages event that will do outreach to local schools and art organizations.
