Omni Parker House Literary Tour
May 5, 2015 at 1:30 pm–3:30 pm
Where Did Charles Dickens practice his reading of A Christmas Carol before speaking in front of an American audience? Where did the Transcendentalists hang out on the last Saturday of every month? With a long waiting list last time, local historian Susan Wilson is back by popular demand to uncover the rich literary history of the Omni Parker House! ArtWeek participants will be given a private talk and tour of the hotel, retracing the steps of renowned writers of the “Golden Age of American Literature” such as Emerson, Thoreau, Hawthorne, and Longfellow as well as Mark Twain, Willa Cather, and Britain’s Charles Dickens. The Omni Parker House is the longest continuously operating hotel in the United States. This showcase will occur in conjunction with Boston’s Literary District.
Limited to the first 15 registrants.
