“Part & Parcel” Concert & Conversation
October 1, 2016 at 8:00 pm–10:00 pm
Lorelei Ensemble opens its 2016-17 season with a concert featuring a subset of the ensemble as they explore the unique qualities of both the solo and the ensemble vocal art forms. Music from the very ancient to the very modern, for both individuals and small ensembles, showcase Lorelei’s members as never before. This performance will give the audience an opportunity to explore a wide range of musical styles and aesthetics, as well as an opportunity to see how the ensemble comes together, skillfully threading each individual voice into various ensemble combinations. This interactive performance, during which the audience will be asked to move around the performance space (if desired) to better appreciate each work presented, breaks away from the standard auditorium style of performance, bridging the gap between audience and performers, providing a unique and intimate experience to the attendees.
Special for ArtWeek, at the end of the performance, Artistic Director Beth Willer will share her thoughts on how this program comes together, how Sherry Turkle’s words inspire her, and how each singer has a say in what the audience will experience.
About Lorelei Ensemble: Lorelei is an all-professional vocal ensemble, comprising nine women whose expertise ranges from early to contemporary repertoire, and whose independent careers as soloists and ensemble singers across the globe lend to the rich and diverse vocal palate that defines the ensemble’s consistent delivery of “exact, smooth, and stylish” programming (Boston Globe).
Tickets for General Admission are $30. Student discounted tickets are $15 each. There will be a second performance (without the ArtWeek post-talk) on Sunday, October 2 at 4:00PM.
