“This key will unlock my ideas and theories in life.” – Victoria, age 13
What is important to Boston’s residents and visitors? We will answer this question through The Key Idea™, a unique project that collects the deep thoughts of people of all ages through the metaphor of a key. Be a part of creating this exhibit at the Boston Public Market throughout ArtWeek 2017.
Both simple and profound, The Key Idea™ was designed to be accessible to all, even those people who don’t think of themselves as artistic. Keys are easy to draw and the process gives time for reflecting on what is meaningful. As the “KeyStories” are created they will be added to the exhibit, hung sequentially by age. The exhibit will grow throughout the week as Bostonians add their voices. Stop by, take some time to create a “KeyStory” and enjoy the city’s year-round, all local food Market. Bring keys that you now longer need to inspire others. Donations accepted.
About The Key Idea™. Imagine a key that would unlock anything you desire. What would YOU unlock?
Over four thousand adults and children have participated in this unique art and writing project where everyone, of every age uses the same materials and does the same project. People ages, 1-100+ select a used key, draw it and respond to the prompt:
What would your key open or start or do?
Viewers will notice the development of writing and art but most importantly, the changes in thinking at different stages of life. Keys trigger memories and inspire reflection. The Key Idea™ collects and exhibits the optimism and longings of a community.
Project developer, Lenore Lyons believes that everyone is creative. You are invited to add your voice to this exhibit during ArtWeek 2017 at the Boston Public Market.
