Community members are welcome to design their own walk to contribute to the “BFCCPS Rocks Art Walk.”
The Carle’s collection includes more than 7,000 objects, with a very small percentage on display in the galleries. Join us for a special program that not only includes a guided tour of The Carle’s current exhibitions, but a behind-the-scenes look in Collections to view works by artists including Leo Lionni, Arnold Lobel, Ashley Bryan and many others. To celebrate Artweek, The Cahoon Museum of American Art will be offering docent led "Spotlight" tours on Friday, April 27th at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. free with general admission.
Silver Lake High School visual and performing arts students will be teaming up to present Airline along side the annual Spring Art Showcase. Featured amongst the work will be student light painting photography, and for those adventurous souls there will be a studio for guests and visitors to try their hand at the light painting process too!
Specially designed for ArtWeek, this gives you a chance to learn how to use the potter's wheel and make clay plates. Big and small, plates useful for any snack or meal are much more fun when you make them yourself! This drop-in event is a great opportunity to work and play with clay.

Chinese characters are perhaps the most interesting, yet seemingly difficult, especially for non-Chinese speakers. Through this introductory session, the different principles behind the construction of Chinese characters will be introduced through examples. The relationship between pronunciation and intonations of a Chinese character will also be discussed. The session will also include a brief introduction of Chinese calligraphic styles and end with a hands-on experience of calligraphy.
This free one-hour introductory level art event will introduce participants to several exciting watercolor techniques layered with marker, colored pencil, and pastel.

ArtSpace Maynard Gallery and Studios invite you to visit the Gallery, a 100-year school house, during ArtWeek on April 28. Acme Theater and printmakers will provide tours, Berit Strong Classical Gambist will be performing from 2-3 pm in the Gallery, and Kay Hartung will be presenting an Artist’s Talk from 3-4 in the gallery.
