Making Art of Food – Strawberry Fields Forever

MAKING...

Strawberry Fields Forever

September 18, 2019

ArtWeek’s Special Program: Art of Food challenges chefs and bartenders across the state to come up with unique, culinary masterpieces inspired by their favorite artwork. Dishes, cocktails and coffees have portrayed everything from Prince to Picasso, Beatles to Banksy, and everything in-between. Art of Food leaves nothing off the table! Here’s your chance to recreate some of the Art of Food favorites from seasons past.

Since 2016, Michael’s Deli of Brookline has served up this stacked wonder! Inspired by the John Lennon and Paul McCartney song of the same name, “Strawberry Fields Forever” was created by owner Steven Peljovich. Pile on the goodness and let this sandwich….

take you down, ‘cause
I’m going to, Strawberry Fields Forever…

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR THIS DISH/DRINK AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE IT?

“I am a huge music lover and I spent some time thinking about songs that featured a food name in the title.  I couldn’t get Strawberry Fields out of my head.  The problem was how do you make the song into a sandwich?”

WHAT ELEMENTS SPEAK TO/HIGHLIGHT THAT INSPIRATION?

“It is a song of wanting, needing & longing, and I am hopeful that when folks try the sandwich, they will long for it again and again.   I have never heard of strawberry glazed bacon in a sandwich so I think folks can only get it here, in my Michael’s Deli Fields.”
